T20 World Cup finals have been played between which teams till now, know who won the trophy and when

T20 World Cup: The history of T20 World Cup is 19 years old. T20 World Cup was played for the first time in 2007. Since then, a total of 10 editions of this tournament have been played. Now the teams of India and New Zealand are going to face each other in the final of the 10th edition of the T20 World Cup on March 8 (Sunday). Before that, today we are going to tell you about all the teams which have participated in the final of the T20 World Cup so far. So let us know between which teams the final matches of the T20 World Cup have been played so far and what has been their result.

India vs Pakistan – 2007

The first edition of T20 World Cup was held in 2007. The final of T20 World Cup 2007 was played between India and Pakistan. The title match was held between these two teams on 24 September 2007 in Johannesburg, South Africa. In this first T20 World Cup final, India batted first and scored 157 runs. Pakistan came close to the target but could not win. Due to Misbah-ul-Haq being caught out in the last over, India won the match by 5 runs and Team India became the champion of the first T20 World Cup.

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka – 2009

The second edition of the T20 World Cup was held in England in 2009. This time the final match was between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 138 runs in 20 overs. Pakistan won the T20 World Cup title by winning the match by 8 wickets. After India, Pakistan became the second team to win the T20 World Cup.

England vs Australia – 2010

In the year 2010, the third edition of T20 World Cup was played in West Indies. This time the teams of England and Australia were face to face in the final. Batting first, Australia scored 147 runs. England won the match by 7 wickets and won the T20 World Cup title for the first time. England became the third team after India and Pakistan to win the T20 World Cup.

West Indies vs Sri Lanka – 2012

The fourth edition of the T20 World Cup was held in Sri Lanka in 2012. This time the final was played between Sri Lanka and West Indies. Batting first, West Indies scored 137 runs. Sri Lanka was reduced to 101 runs and West Indies won the title by 36 runs. West Indies became the fourth team to win the T20 World Cup.

Sri Lanka vs India – 2014

The final between India and Sri Lanka took place in the fifth edition of the T20 World Cup. When the T20 World Cup was played in the year 2014 hosted by Bangladesh. In this title match, India batted first and scored 130 runs. Sri Lanka prevented India from becoming champion for the second time by winning by 6 wickets. With this, Sri Lanka became the fifth team to win the T20 World Cup title.

West Indies vs England – 2016

The sixth edition of the T20 World Cup was played in 2016. This time India hosted the T20 World Cup for the first time. England and West Indies clashed in the final at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. England batted first and scored 155 runs. When West Indies needed 19 runs in the last over to win, Carlos Brathwaite made the team champion for the second time by hitting four consecutive sixes. West Indies became the first team to win the T20 World Cup title for the second time.

Australia vs New Zealand – 2021

The seventh edition of the T20 World Cup was to be played in 2020. But the tournament could not take place due to the Corona epidemic. In such a situation, it was organized in UAE and Oman in 2021. This time the final took place between Australia and New Zealand. New Zealand batted first and scored 172 runs. Australia won the match by 8 wickets and achieved the honor of becoming champion for the second time. With this, Australia became the sixth team to become champion of the T20 World Cup.

England vs Pakistan – 2022

The eighth edition of the T20 World Cup was played in 2022 hosted by Australia. This time England and Pakistan clashed in the final. In this title match, Pakistan batted first and scored 137 runs. England won the match by 5 wickets and achieved the honor of becoming T20 World Cup champion for the second time.

India vs South Africa – 2024

The 9th edition of the T20 World Cup was held in America and West Indies in the year 2024. This time the final was played between India and South Africa. Batting first, India scored 176 runs. Thanks to the brilliant bowling of Hardik and the tremendous catching of Suryakumar Yadav, India won the T20 World Cup title for the second time by defeating Africa by 7 runs. With this, India became the third team to do so after West Indies and England.

India vs New Zealand – 2026

The 10th edition of the T20 World Cup is being played jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, the final of which will be played between India and New Zealand on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Now will India capture the trophy for the third time or will New Zealand win the T20 World Cup for the first time? Only time will tell.
