T20 World Cup Final: ICC’s big announcement, told who will be the umpire and match referee for the final matches
Dubai. The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday announced the names of the officials for the final match of the T-20 World Cup cricket match between former champions India and New Zealand to be held in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
The ICC has said that English pair Richard Illingworth and Alex Wharfe will be the on-field umpires. Illingworth will take charge of his second consecutive Men’s T20 World Cup final, having previously umpired alongside Chris Gaffney in 2024.
Before this, he has also been an umpire in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 Final and ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 Final. He is joined by his compatriot Wharfe, who will be overseeing his first senior ICC World Cup final.
Before joining the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Umpires last year, Wharfe has umpired at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 and the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.
