T20 World Cup: Will the weather become the villain in the India-Pakistan match? Rain alert in Colombo on match day
New Delhi. Now two days are left for the great match between India and Pakistan in the T20 World Cup. After all the drama, both the teams will finally face each other on Sunday. India and Pakistan will play against each other for the first time since the Asia Cup final last year. This match is to be played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, but the matter of concern for the fans is that there is a heavy rain alert in Colombo on the day of the match.
How did the drama happen before the match?
There was a lot of drama before the T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan. The Pakistan government had refused to compete with India in a bid to appear to be standing with Bangladesh. ICC put pressure on Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and tried to resolve the issue. A meeting was held between PCB and ICC and considering the possible action, Pakistan took a U-turn on the decision. The Pakistan government instructed the national team to play against India.
Sri Lanka’s Meteorological Department has predicted rain
The Sri Lankan Meteorological Department has predicted rain on Sunday. According to the Meteorological Department, the pressure over the Bay of Bengal is decreasing due to which rain has been predicted on the day of the match between India and Pakistan. According to the weather department’s forecast, the Khetarama area of Colombo, where the R Premadasa Stadium is located, will be humid at the beginning of the day and the temperature may range from 30 to 31 degrees Celsius. However, there is a 50 to 70 percent chance of rain with thunderstorms in the afternoon.
The match between India and Pakistan is scheduled to start at 7 pm local time and there is a possibility of rain before the match. If this happens then the toss may be delayed or there is a possibility of overs being cut. Even though there is a shadow of rain on the match, the weather is expected to remain clear after 8 pm. However, there may be light rain at some places.
Better drainage system of Premadasa Stadium
It is a matter of relief for the fans that the drained system of R Premadasa Stadium is better and in case of rain, the groundsmen can prepare the ground soon. In Premadasa Stadium, there is a arrangement to cover not only the pitch but the entire ground with covers. Apart from the match day, there is a possibility of rain in Colombo on Saturday also which may affect India’s training session.
