T20I Batter Rankings: Shefali Verma takes a huge leap in T20I rankings, number 1 position in danger

T20I Batter Rankings: Shafali Verma has jumped four places in the ICC Women’s T20I Batter Rankings thanks to her excellent performance in the T20I series against Sri Lanka at home. After which this young Indian player has reached close to the top position. Shafali has moved up four places to sixth position in the updated list of T20I batters.

Shafali became only the second Indian player to top the rankings for T20I batsmen after Mithali Raj when she reached the top in 2020, but it is only after her player of the match performance in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup final last month that she has hit her best form in recent times. In that match, Shafali scored 87 runs and also took two wickets, helping India win its first 50-over World Cup title.

The 21-year-old player has continued the same form in the shortest format by playing brilliant innings in the first four matches of the series against Sri Lanka. Shafali has three half-centuries to her name and is the leading run-scorer in this series and the right-handed batsman is now just 60 rating points behind Australia’s top-ranked batsman Beth Mooney.

On the other hand, another player of the Indian team, Richa Ghosh is also climbing the updated rankings of T20I batsmen. 22-year-old Richa has moved up seven places to reach 20th position overall after playing an unbeaten inning of 40* in the fourth match of the series against Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram.

There is more good news for Indian players in the ranking of T20I bowlers, in which Renuka Singh and Shri Charani, who are in excellent form, have benefited the most. Renuka returned to the team in the third match of the Sri Lanka series, taking four wickets and as a result, she moved up eight places to sixth position in the latest list of T20I bowlers.

Left-arm spinner Charani has taken four wickets in the first four matches against Sri Lanka and has moved up 17 places to 52nd overall in the T20I bowlers’ rankings. Deepti Sharma is maintaining her slight lead at the top of the T20I bowlers’ rankings, while West Indies star Hayley Matthews is well ahead of the T20I all-rounders.
