Taapsee Pannu’s big statement on Patna NEET student death case, said- rape and suicide have become normal.

bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu Taapsee Pannu is busy promoting her upcoming court drama film ‘Assi’. In this connection, she reached Patna city where she gave her statement in an ANI conversation regarding the death of a student appearing for NEET exam. The actress expressed her displeasure over such matters and expressed concern over many such cases happening continuously in the country.

He said, ’79 such incidents might have happened in other different countries and the place feels bad. It happens very cruelly to someone. Someone from the family goes along with someone. But on an average 80 students commit suicide every day in the country, and now this thing has become so common that people have started considering it as normal. His statement touches the heart and points towards this serious problem going on in the society. Taapsee also said that such incidents are happening with girls of 6 to 7 years of age. But the big thing is that rape has become so common that it has been normalized.

What is the matter?

This entire incident took place in January 2026, when this 18-year-old girl, who was a resident of Jahanabad district, was found in an unconscious state in Shambhu Girls Hostel in Chitragupt Nagar area of Patna. She was immediately admitted to a private hospital, but there she remained in a coma for several days and died on January 11. Initially the police termed it as suicide due to overdose of sleeping pills, but the postmortem report and forensic investigation (FSL report) revealed some very serious things. Traces of semen were found on the girl’s clothes, there were injury marks on the body and sexual violence was confirmed.

Investigation of the matter is going on

The family alleged that it was a case of rape followed by murder and the police were trying to hide it. This matter created a huge outrage in entire Bihar. People took to the streets, hashtags like #JusticeForNEETAaspirant started trending on social media. The family also demonstrated at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. After so much pressure, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar requested the Central Government to hand over the investigation to CBI, so that the truth comes out in a fair and transparent manner. This case was transferred to CBI at the end of January. In February 2026, the CBI team reached the hostel, went to the girl’s house, met the family, talked to neighbors and villagers. The investigation is still going on and many police officers have also been suspended.

What is film assi?

Taapsee Pannu’s film Assi is a very impressive and courageous courtroom drama, which will recently release in theaters on 20th February 2026. The film is directed by Anubhav Sinha, and is his third film with Taapsee, the first being ‘Mulk’ in 2018 and the second being ‘Thappad’ in 2020. The film is mainly based on the tragic incident of a school teacher Parima (played by Kani Kusruti). While returning home, Parima is kidnapped by five men, gang-raped and then thrown on the railway tracks to die. But she survives and stays alive to fight for justice.
