Taiwanese officer dies after being sucked into fighter jet engine

A Taiwanese air force officer has been killed after being sucked into a fighter jet engine at an airbase in central Taiwan.
Taiwan’s Central News Agencyciting a statement from the island’s Air Force Command Headquarters, reported that the incident occurred Tuesday morning at a hangar at Ching Chuan Kang Air Force Base in Taichung City.
The fighter jet had just landed and was being moved into the hangar.
According to the statement, the female officer was conducting a standard final inspection of the fighter jet that had just landed, moments before the engine was shut down. The investigation revealed that she was unexpectedly drawn into the jet’s right-side engine.
Emergency services transported her to the hospital, but she was subsequently pronounced dead.
The Air Force has announced an investigation into the incident and stated that a comprehensive review will be conducted to prevent similar accidents in the future.
