Taiwan’s Bullet Train Proves Japan’s Shinkansen Export Potential

The Japanese’s shinkansen, synonymous with future-oriented transportation engineering, has tested its worldliness in a successful project in Taiwan. Though, it is extensively used only in Japan, the experience of Taiwan’s bullet train speaks volumes about its versatility and reliability.

High-speed rail line in Taiwan, traversing the island through mountainous and unstable grounds, makes Taiwan an appropriate testing ground for high-speed trains. This further brings out the robustness of Japan’s shinkansen technology under different conditions of environment.

The chairman of the International High-speed Rail Association (IHRA), Masafumi Shukuri, comments on the international importance of Taiwan’s experience:
The fact that it has already been successful in Taiwan means that it’s a technology and experience that could potentially be applied universally overseas.
Taiwan’s experience with the shinkansen has shown that it can be done efficiently outside Japan. Such success will further bolster Japan’s argument for exporting its high-speed rail know-how to other international markets and making the shinkansen a viable solution for solving global transportation problems.
