Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections: The suspense of seat sharing between Congress and DMK is over, know which party will contest on how many seats.

Chennai : The picture of the alliance on the electoral board of Tamil Nadu is now very clear. The seat sharing dilemma that has been going on for weeks between the ruling DMK and its main ally Congress finally ended on Wednesday. The decisive phone conversation between Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Chief Minister MK Stalin has put the final seal on this agreement. With this strategic agreement, the ruling coalition has presented its stronger unity than the opposition camp. Its formal announcement will be made soon.

Decisive conversation between Kharge and Stalin

Let us tell you that taking advantage of the auspicious occasion of Holi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge called Chief Minister MK Stalin and finalized the formalities of the electoral alliance. In this long conversation that took place on Wednesday morning, both the leaders discussed in detail the current political situation of the state. After several rounds of failed talks, this direct initiative of Kharge calmed the growing discontent within the alliance. Along with this, new enthusiasm is visible among the grassroots workers of both the parties regarding the upcoming elections.

Congress was adamant on the demand of 35 seats

The matter regarding seat distribution remained unresolved between the two parties for a long time. Congress was initially adamant on the demand of 35 seats. Whereas DMK was not at all in favor of giving it more than 25 seats. Congress was not ready to contest elections on less than 30 seats under any circumstances. Ultimately, considering mutual understanding and future needs, DMK agreed to give 28 seats. Which was readily accepted by the top leadership of Congress keeping in mind the broader political interests of the state.

Kharge had to handle the front

To solve the complicated formula of seat sharing, Congress had entrusted a big responsibility to its senior leader and former Union Minister P Chidambaram. Chidambaram held several rounds of secret meetings with all the senior DMK leaders including MK Stalin and tried his best to find a respectable middle path. However, despite all his serious efforts, things did not work out initially. Seeing the matter becoming serious, National President Kharge himself had to take charge. Due to which all fears of alliance breaking were eliminated.

Mathematics of last election

In the last assembly elections, DMK had allotted 25 seats to Congress. Out of which the party had won a landslide victory on 18 seats. On the basis of this old performance, this time Congress was making a big claim for 35 assembly and 2 Rajya Sabha seats. Although. DMK had already made it clear that they are not in a position to give anything more than 25 assembly and 1 Rajya Sabha seat. This tough attitude of DMK had completely forced Congress to reconsider its old demands.

Official announcement will be made soon

According to the agreement, now Congress will try its luck on 28 assembly seats in the state along with one Rajya Sabha seat. With this important strategic decision, the alliance has made its position completely clear on all the 234 seats of Tamil Nadu. Its official announcement will be made public very soon through a joint press conference. With this coordination, the ruling coalition has full hope that they will be completely successful in giving a tough defeat to the opponents by entering the field with their common election manifesto and agenda.
