In a temple here, a devotee dropped his iPhone in the donation box, after which the temple administration refused to give the phone. The temple administration has given such arguments for not returning the iPhone that you will be shocked to hear it.
This incident is from Sri Kandaswamy Temple in Tiruppur, where the iPhone of a devotee named Dinesh fell in the donation box. As soon as he realized his mistake, he immediately contacted the temple authorities and informed them about it. But the temple administration has refused to return the phone. The Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department says it is now temple property. In this case, the iPhone cannot be returned. Along with this, the administration also cited the rules in this matter.
iPhone will not be returned
Dinesh tells that while donating in the temple, his phone unknowingly fell in the donation box. Dinesh requested the authorities to return his phone. After which, after opening the donation box on Friday 20th December, the temple administration contacted Dinesh and said that the phone had been found. But they said that they can only be given the phone data, the administration refused to give the phone to Dinesh.

After which Dinesh refused to take the data and asked that his phone be returned to him. Meanwhile, on Saturday, December 21, the matter was brought before Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister P.K. Brought to the notice of Shekhar Babu. He said that whatever is deposited in the donation box of the temple, even if it is not given voluntarily, goes to God's account.
There will be discussion on compensation
Shekhar Babu said in the conversation that as per the customs and traditions of the temples, any offering made in the hundi (donation box) goes directly into the account of the deity of that temple. In such a situation, as per the rules, devotees are not allowed to return the offerings. However, after discussing this matter with the department officials, it will be ascertained whether there is any possibility of giving compensation to the devotee. He said that he will take a decision after deliberations.
The woman's gold chain also fell
At the same time, a senior official of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department had said that last year in May 2023, S., a devotee from Alappuzha, Kerala. Sangeeta's gold chain had inadvertently fallen into the donation box of the famous Sri Dhanadayuthapani Swamy Temple of Palani. However, considering his financial condition and after CCTV footage confirmed that the chain had fallen accidentally, the Chairman of the Temple Trust Board, at his personal expense, purchased a new gold chain of the same price and gave it to the devotee. He said that as per the Hundi Establishment Security and Accounts Rules, 1975, any offering made in the Hundi can never be returned to the owner, as it becomes the property of the temple.
