Tamil Nadu Elections: PM Modi himself will take command, K. Why is Annamalai out of the list of candidates?

Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections: Bharatiya Janata Party has played a big gamble with its strategy regarding Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. On Friday, the party has announced its candidates for all 27 seats and this time it has made it clear that all its strength will be put into the elections. The list includes many big and influential names, indicating that the BJP is working on an aggressive strategy to strengthen its hold in Tamil Nadu.

Still, the thing that is being discussed the most in this entire list is the absence of K. Annamalai’s name. The absence of Annamalai, who is considered an outspoken and aggressive leader of the party, from the election field is raising many questions in the political circles. However, Annamalai herself has come forward and clarified the situation. He says that it was his personal decision and he had already informed the party leadership in writing that he would not contest the elections this time. He also said that now his entire focus will be on campaigning for the alliance candidates.

If we look at the list of candidates, BJP has tried to balance experience and influence. Former Union Minister L. Murugan has been fielded from Avanashi, while former governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has been given the ticket from Mylapore. National President of the party’s Mahila Morcha, Vanathi Srinivasan has once again got a chance from Coimbatore North, while State President Nainar Nagendran will contest from Sattur. Along with this, BJP has also given tickets to five women to improve the social equation, which makes the party’s message clear that it wants to take every section along.

Ever since BJP has announced the candidates, there is a lot of buzz in the political circles and media about one thing that Annamalai not contesting the election is not just a personal decision but can also be a part of alliance politics. This time BJP is contesting elections with AIADMK led NDA. In such a situation, it is very important to maintain coordination with the allies. It is believed that this decision was taken in view of the uneasiness among the allies regarding Annamalai’s aggressive style and his old statements on AIADMK leadership.

Here, BJP’s seriousness regarding Tamil Nadu can also be gauged from the fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has taken charge. An important meeting is proposed in Chennai today, in which senior party officials and grassroots workers will attend. The objective of this meeting is to strengthen the organization and create an atmosphere in favor of NDA. Overall, BJP has made a strong start in Tamil Nadu, but K. Annamalai not contesting the election has become the main center of discussion in this entire election. Now it will be interesting to see how much benefit this strategy brings to BJP and NDA.
