Tamil Nadu Politics: In Tamil Nadu politics, former BJP state president K. Annamalai has started a new political chapter. His new movement “We The Leaders” launched after resigning from BJP is getting tremendous support from the public. Within hours of the start of the movement, lakhs of people joined it and now the number of registered supporters has crossed 15 lakhs.
Who is Annamalai?
Of. Annamalai’s name needs no introduction in Tamil Nadu politics. Before joining politics, he had been an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. Due to his strict administrative image and outspoken style, he made a big name in a short time. After joining BJP in the year 2020, he rapidly became one of the prominent faces of the party and later also took charge of Tamil Nadu BJP.
Left BJP and created a new path
On June 5, Annamalai decided to part ways with the BJP. He said that there were differences in his thinking and the thinking of the party leadership regarding the future of Tamil Nadu. After this he started a new mass movement named “We The Leaders”, which he wants to develop as a major political alternative in the future.
What is “We The Leaders” movement?
Annamalai claims that the movement is a campaign against individualism and dynastic politics. He says that politics should not be limited to only a few families, but common people, youth and professionals should also get opportunities in leadership. The movement talks about working on issues like education, health, youth leadership and good governance.
Millions of people joined in a few hours
Annamalai’s move received an unexpected response from the public. Lakhs of people registered within the first few hours of launch. More than 10 lakh people joined in the first 10 hours, within 24 hours this figure crossed 13 lakh and the very next day the number of supporters crossed 15 lakh.
Increased stir in Tamil Nadu politics
The popularity of Annamalai’s movement has intensified the discussion in the political circles of Tamil Nadu. After his leaving BJP, there have been reports of many workers joining the new movement. Political analysts are seeing this as a new equation in the politics of the state.
