Chennai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for several coastal districts of Tamil Nadu after a low-pressure area formed in the southwest Bay of Bengal, intensified into Cyclone Fangal. It has issued a red alert to Cuddalore and Mayiladuthurai districts. Several coastal districts including Mayiladuthurai, Karaikal, Nagapattinam, and Thiruvarur witnessed heavy rainfall.
IMD has also issued heavy rain warnings for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikala regions. With rainfall of more than 202.4 mm expected, parents and students are constantly searching for information on whether TN schools and colleges will be closed or not. Are Tamil Nadu schools closed amid Cyclone Fengal?
The district collectors of Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur and Thiruvarur have decided to suspend all physical classes in schools and colleges on November 26 amid heavy to very heavy rain alert. The district collector of the Karaikal region has also decided to close all the educational institutions on Tuesday amid Cyclone Fengal.

Chennai schools closed on November 28?
IMD has predicted heavy rains in some parts of Chennai on November 28 and 29. The decision regarding the Chennai school holiday will be taken by District Collector Rashmi Siddharth Jagade after assessing the impact of Cyclone Fengal.
