The first phase membership drive started on 3 September and ended on 25 September. BJP created about 6 crore members in these 23 days, which is much less than expected. A target of adding 1 crore new members was set on September 25, the birth anniversary of party founder Deendayal Upadhyay, but it could not be achieved. Despite the efforts of party leaders, it made 8.3 lakh members till September 25, which is 1.7 lakh less than the target.

Membership campaign target increased by 20 percent in Chhattisgarh

BJP national president JP Nadda reached the capital Raipur on Thursday. As soon as he returned, state BJP in-charge Nitin Nabin became active on Friday. He called a meeting of leaders from across the state (BJP membership drive). In this meeting, he told the leaders that now every district will have to make 20 percent extra members. This target has been increased from the old target. BJP was making 50 lakh members in entire Chhattisgarh. JP Nadda came and told the leaders here that not 50 but 60 lakh members will have to be made. For this reason, target pressure has now increased on the state leaders.

Poor performance of four states

The list of states performing poorly in the membership drive includes states like Rajasthan, Telangana, Karnataka, Bihar. Leaders in these states have been asked to increase the numbers in the membership campaign. Bihar has 32 lakh members, Rajasthan has 26 lakh members and Telangana has less than 10 lakh members. These states have not completed even 50 percent of the membership target. In the first phase of BJP's membership campaign on September 25, 6 crore members were formed in only 4 states, of which more than half are members.

Target incomplete, leadership troubled

The states of UP, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Assam have created more than 3 crore members. More than 1.5 crore members are from Uttar Pradesh alone. The target of BJP membership drive was 2 crore members in UP. In which he achieved 65 percent success. Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh are in second place. These two states together have more than 1 crore members. Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh have achieved 75 percent of the target. Assam is at third position and more than 50 lakh members are registered there. Assam was given a target of 65 lakh member registrations, Assam achieved 85 percent of the given target.

Best performance in small states

The best performance among smaller states is from Himachal, Arunachal and Tripura. More than 10 lakh members were registered in Tripura. 65 percent target has been achieved in Arunachal Pradesh. 75 percent target has been achieved in Himachal Pradesh. Member registration campaign in Uttarakhand has crossed the 10 lakh mark. Delhi ranks number one among all the cities of the country in member registration campaign. 14.5 lakh have become members of BJP in Delhi.

Special attention to the second member registration step

Now BJP Yuva Morcha has a special focus in the second phase of the member registration campaign. On September 27, a meeting of Rashtriya Yuva Morcha officials was held, in which they were asked to take initiative in the membership drive. Yuva Morcha has resolved to connect youth workers with the party by running special campaigns in colleges and institutions. Youth below 35 years of age have been asked to participate in BJP member registration. States like Maharashtra, Haryana, Jammu Kashmir and Jharkhand have been kept out of the member registration drive due to assembly elections.
