Tariq Rahman will take charge of Bangladesh today, told about two big challenges before taking oath.

New Delhi. After a landslide victory in Bangladesh’s 13th parliamentary election, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) President Tariq Rahman will be sworn in as Prime Minister on Tuesday. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad, instead of the traditional venue, Bangabhaban.

President Mohammad Shahabuddin is scheduled to swear in the new cabinet at 4 p.m. In the morning, Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin is scheduled to swear in all 297 newly elected MPs.

Following this, the BNP will officially select its leader at a parliamentary party meeting, and the president will then invite them to form a government. The BNP won 209 of the 297 seats, while Jamaat-e-Islami won 68.

Tariq Rahman Focuses on Two Major Challenges
In a post-election press conference, Rahman emphasized the need for national unity and peace. He stated that the country’s economy is in a weak state, institutions are under pressure, and the law and order situation is challenging. He warned that growing divisions in society would weaken democracy.

Who has been invited to the swearing-in ceremony?
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will represent India at the swearing-in ceremony. Representatives from the Maldives, Turkey, and Sri Lanka will also be present. The BNP has invited approximately 1,200 domestic and international guests.

Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, Turkey Undersecretary Baris Ekinci, and Sri Lankan Minister of Health and Public Relations Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa have been invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony.
