He has indicated distance from both the pro-India policies of the previous Sheikh Hasina government and the increasing inclination towards Pakistan of the current interim government. War against corruption and women empowerment

Bringing transparency in governance is at the top of Rahman’s agenda. He has promised to implement stringent laws like e-governance, judicial reforms and whistleblower protection. Along with this, he has proposed to increase participation of women in the workforce to boost the country’s economy.

Their goal is to increase the share of women in the labor market to above 43%. For this, they have planned to open compulsory day-care centers in government and private sectors, so that women do not have to choose between career and family.

Protection of minorities and inclusive democracy

Amidst the attacks on minorities in the country, Tariq Rehman has given a strong message of communal harmony. He has clearly said that religion is a personal matter, but getting security is the fundamental right of every citizen.

He has warned his supporters to be wary of radical groups and has presented himself as a modern, inclusive leader. On December 27, after completing the voter registration and NID process, Rahman will formally present his candidature in the election field, which will prove to be decisive for the future of Bangladesh.
