Refusal to transfer case
The Supreme Court asked to share the report of the National Task Force with all the states and union territories. The court also refused to transfer the case out of West Bengal. According to the report, the victim's family had argued in the court that due to alleged influence and public sentiments, it is difficult to conduct a fair trial of the case in West Bengal, hence the case should be transferred to ensure judicial process. However, the court denied this and said that the judiciary of West Bengal is capable of handling such cases impartially.
