Taslima Nasreen had left Kolkata in 2007 due to security reasons during the Left government. At that time there were violent protests in Bengal regarding his writings. Due to this, the law and order situation of the state deteriorated and Taslima had to leave Kolkata.
Since then, continuous efforts were made for his return, but it was unsuccessful. Now almost two decades later, she is coming to attend an event to be organized on August 1 at Ravindra Sadan in Kolkata. He has given this information on social media.
Received invitation to secular mission program

In such a situation, discussions have started in the cultural and literary world regarding his return. He has been invited by Bengal Jan Andolan, Human Rights Beyond Frontiers and Secular Mission for the program to be held on August 1. This invitation has been given to him to honor his stand against extremism, freedom of expression and advocacy of human rights.
