Tata Dealer Delivers 57 Curvv EVs To Maharashtra Transport Department [Video]
Tata Motors is one of the leading names in the Indian car market, and they are also one of the leading EV makers in the country. They have a variety of models in their EV lineup, including the recently launched Sierra EV. Many state governments are also promoting EVs, and here we have one such video from Maharashtra where the Transport Department took delivery of not one or two but 57 Tata Curvv EVs for official use.
The video has been shared by Trident Tata on their Instagram page. In this video, we see a bunch of Curvv EVs parked in an open space. The dealership had actually organised a small event for the occasion. In the video, we see that the Curvv EVs have beacon lights mounted on their roofs. The Maharashtra Transport Department is likely to use these EVs for patrolling duties.
The dealership and the department had invited the State Transport Minister, Prataprao Sarnaik, to the event. He arrived at the venue in his multi-crore Lexus LX SUV. The minister was greeted by representatives from the dealership and employees from the department. After this, he moved towards the Curvv EVs. He checked out the car, and one of the staff members was also seen explaining some of the features to the minister.
After this, the organisers felicitated the minister, following which they started handing over the keys to the Transport Department. They even organised a flag-off ceremony to make the occasion special. All 57 Curvv EVs then slowly rolled out from the ground where they were parked.
The Tata Curvv EV is currently not the most popular EV in Tata’s electric vehicle lineup. The Curvv was introduced in the market as a coupe SUV, but for multiple reasons, including its coupe-style design, it has not appealed to many buyers. Tata is aware of this, and the company recently launched the Curvv EV Series X in the market. We are not sure whether the EVs sold to the Transport Department are the new Series X models or older stock.
The Curvv EV is now available only in the Accomplished X, Empowered X, and Empowered X Dark Edition variants. The price of the Series X Curvv EV starts at Rs 16.99 lakh, ex-showroom, and goes all the way up to Rs 19.49 lakh, ex-showroom. From the video, it looks like the department opted for the lower Accomplished X variant, as it comes with a smaller infotainment screen.
The Curvv EV seen in the video comes with LED DRLs, split LED headlamps, cornering lamps, gloss-black cladding on the sides, 18-inch aero alloy wheels, and sleek-looking LED tail lamps. The EV gets dark grey seat upholstery and dashboard trims, a twin-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, automatic climate control, and more.
It does not come with electrically adjustable seats or Level 2 ADAS. However, it does get a 360-degree camera. Coming to the battery pack, the Curvv EV is now available only with a 55 kWh battery pack. This battery replaces the older 45 kWh unit and generates 167 PS and 215 Nm of peak torque. The electric coupe SUV from Tata offers a claimed driving range of 502 km. It takes around 7.6 hours to charge the battery from 10 to 100 percent using a 7.2 kW AC charger. Using a DC fast charger, the Curvv EV can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 40 minutes.
