Tata is becoming the first choice of middle class, 57% jump in February, sales figures surprised

Country’s leading auto company Tata Motors The passenger vehicle unit of India has presented such sales figures in February 2026, which have created a stir in the market. The company sold a total of 63,331 vehicles in domestic and international markets, whereas in February 2025 this figure was 46,811 units. That means a tremendous increase of 57% has been recorded on year-on-year basis.

Strong performance in domestic market

If we talk only about the Indian market, then in February 2026 the company sold 62,329 passenger vehicles. Last year in the same month this number was 46,435 units. In this way, there was a growth of 34% in domestic sales and a total direct increase of 15,894 units was recorded. This surge is an indication that Tata vehicles are now becoming the choice of common families.

Tata’s pace is increasing even in foreign countries

Not only in India, the company’s hold seems to be getting stronger in foreign countries also. In February 2026, 1,002 units were exported, while in February 2025 the figure was 376 units. The annual growth of 167% in the overseas market shows that Tata vehicles are getting acceptance at the global level as well.

Electric vehicles increased speed

The electric vehicle segment has become a major base for the company’s growth. 8,385 electric cars were sold in February 2026, compared to 5,343 units a year ago. In this way, a growth of 57% was recorded in EV sales. It is clear that Tata’s EV portfolio is playing an important role in future mobility.

Tata becomes the second largest car manufacturer

In January 2026, the company achieved another major achievement. Tata became the country’s second-largest passenger vehicle manufacturer in the October-December quarter (FY26), overtaking Hyundai Motor India and Mahindra & Mahindra. During this period, according to the data of Vahan portal, the company registered registration of 1.89 lakh vehicles. Whereas Mahindra stood at 1.80 lakh units and Hyundai at 1.70 lakh units. Strong demand for the popular compact SUV Nexon and newly launched Sierra contributed significantly to the company’s success.

How will the situation be in the year 2025?

Tata remained the country’s third largest carmaker with sales of 5.92 lakh units in the entire calendar year 2025. Mahindra sold 6.07 lakh units, while Maruti Suzuki retained its top position. This pace of Tata shows that on the basis of affordable price, strong features and focus on EV, the company is now making a place in the hearts of middle class families.
