Tata and Stellantis new agreement: Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Stellantis have signed a new MoU to explore wider collaboration to mark the completion of 20 years of their 50:50 joint venture FIAPL. Both Tata and Stellantis operate a shared manufacturing plant located in Ranjangaon near Pune. The new MoU between Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Stellantis aims to explore additional areas of collaboration in the areas of manufacturing, engineering and supply chain operations in India and abroad.

The announcement comes at a time when global automobile manufacturers are reevaluating their manufacturing sectors and supply chains, as India is emerging as a major hub for both domestic sales and exports.

Industry discussions surrounding the agreement also include potential powertrain collaboration, with Stellantis evaluating Tata Motors’ 1.5-litre T-GDI petrol engine for use in models such as the Jeep Compass and Jeep Meridian, which are currently sold with diesel engines in India.

FIAPL has produced 13 lakh vehicles so far and employs 5,000 people, with an annual production capacity of 222,000 vehicles. The Ranjangaon plant currently manufactures 4 models of Jeep and 3 passenger vehicles of Tata Motors.
