Tata Motors Global Plan: Creating a strong identity in India on the basis of powerful vehicles Tata Motors Now it is preparing for major expansion at the global level. After the excellent performance in FY 2026 and the demerger of passenger and commercial vehicle business, the company has started working on a new strategy.
Company Chairman N Chandrasekaran told in the annual meeting that Tata Motors is now moving towards making its business more strong and focused.
Coordination will increase with Jaguar Land Rover
The company is bringing its passenger vehicle business closer to its British luxury unit Jaguar Land Rover. The aim of this step is to create better coordination in platform, technology and product development, so that more advanced vehicles can be produced in future. After the demerger on October 1, 2025, there has been clarity in both the businesses, due to which decisions are being taken faster and the efficiency of work has also increased.
Confidence strengthened by record sales
Financial year 2026 was a great year for Tata Motors. The company sold about 6.4 lakh passenger vehicles, which is 15% more than last year. On the basis of this performance, the company reached second position in the domestic market. Models like Nexon and Punch strengthened the company’s hold in the SUV segment.
Great performance in electric vehicles too
Tata Motors also showed tremendous growth in the electric vehicle segment. The company’s total EV sales crossed 2.5 lakh units, which is considered a major achievement amid increasing competition.
Commercial vehicles also on the rise
In the commercial vehicle segment, the company sold about 4.3 lakh units, showing a growth of 14%.
During this period the company:
- Launched 17 new trucks and tippers
- Ace Pro Mini Truck Introduced
- Delivered more than 3,600 electric buses
These buses have run more than 500 million kilometers so far, which shows the strong hold of the company.

Big step at global level
Tata Motors is now also considering the acquisition of Italian truck manufacturer Iveco. If this deal is successful, the company can be included in the top 4 commercial vehicle companies of the world.
