Tata Power EZ Home: Tata Power’s EZ Home initiative; Energy savings achieved through mobile app and voice control

  • Tata Power’s big leap in digital energy management
  • Tata Power EZ Home initiative expanded
  • Energy savings of up to 20% thanks to sensor-based lighting

Tata Power EZ Home: Expanding its smart energy management initiatives in Mumbai, Tata Power has introduced smart lighting and automation solutions for commercial and industrial (C&I) buildings through Tata Power EZ Home. The initiative aims to efficiently control power consumption in high-traffic buildings, where lighting accounts for a large share of total energy consumption. A sensor-based lighting system reduces unnecessary power consumption by reducing light intensity by up to 20% during absence.

The system also maintains safety standards by increasing efficiency in long or continuous operating facilities. In Mumbai, Tata Power has implemented EZ Home smart lighting and automation solutions at several commercial and institutional locations, including ONGC (BKC), Kotak Mahindra Bank (BKC), UTI Tower (BKC), Phoenix Palladium (Lower Paral), Phoenix Market City (Kurla), Infinity One (Malad) and Taj Wellington (Kulaba).

In addition to lighting optimization, smart IoT-based touch-based switches and control panels enable real-time power consumption monitoring and load management, achieving additional 15–20% energy efficiency gains. Real estate developers in Mumbai and Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) have incorporated EZ Home solutions in new and existing projects. It includes on/off switch, light dimmer, fan speed controller, high capacity AC switch, geyser on/off, curtain controller, relay switch with motion sensor etc. All these devices are compatible with the existing electrical structure and do not require changes to the wiring or damage to the walls.

The Tata Power EZ Home portfolio includes premium touch switches, touch panels, retrofittable converters and controllers as well as motion sensor-based lighting systems. Features such as remote control via mobile app, control via voice-activated devices such as Google Home or Alexa Echo Dot, operation scheduling, scene creation and smart device automation are available. The system provides users with real-time power consumption monitoring, usage pattern analysis, month-end probable bill forecast and load monitoring at every 15 minutes interval.

In terms of safety, an overload protection system is available that automatically shuts down if the equipment consumes more power than its rated capacity. It also provides alerts for preventive maintenance, which helps prevent damage to electrical equipment. Energy analysis tools help reduce unnecessary power consumption by identifying usage errors. Such measures can help organizations improve their energy intensity index, reduce operational carbon emissions, and progress toward green building certifications such as IGBC and LEED. Tata Power EZ Home is currently available in several cities in India, with plans to expand to 100 cities with a focus on energy efficiency and digital energy management.
