Tata Punch And Nexon Are India’s Top 2 Selling Cars In June 2026

Tata Motors delivered an incredible sales performance in June this year. It sold 62,076 units during the month. Interestingly, the Nexon and Punch have remained the top-sellers for the brand. Plus, the Punch sold more units than the Nexon.

When we look at Tata’s June numbers, we can see that Punch sold 21006 units and took the top spot. In second place is the Nexon that recorded sales of 18335 units. In May 2026, the Nexon had posted sales of 19,100 units. This means a 4.01% month-on-month decline. Punch, on the other hand, recorded a 3.9% month-on-month increase in sales, as just 20,208 units were sold in May.

Now let’s look at the year-on-year figures. In June 2025, Tata Motors sold 11602 Nexons. This translates to a massive 58% year-on-year growth. The year-on-year growth has been bigger for the Punch. Tata Motors sold just 10446 units of the micro-SUV in June 2025. The sales have now grown by 101%!

It looks like the month-on-month growth of the Punch was catalysed by the facelifts that were launched early this year. Both the Nexon and Punch are available in internal combustion engine-powered and EV forms.

The Punch got a facelift in January this year, whereas the Punch.EV was updated in February. These updates made the Punch and Punch.EV even more appealing, and addressed some of the key concerns previous owners had with the cars. For example, charging speed of the EV version.

The Punch captured a 13.6% market share in June this year. The Nexon’s market share during the same month stood at 11.75%.

The multi-powertrain approach has been working really well for both the Nexon and the Punch. The Nexon is available with petrol, diesel, CNG and electric powertrains. There is also a long list of variants on offer, priced close to each other. In other words, there is a Nexon variant accessible to sub-four metre SUV buyer with most budgets.

A similar pattern can be seen in the case of the Punch as well. However, this SUV is not available with a diesel engine. The facelift, however, comes with a turbo-charged petrol engine. In the past few months, we have seen both these SUVs get even more popular.
