Engine and performance
Tata Panch The biggest change in the facelift is its engine. This SUV will be offered with three engine options. It will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which is already available in other Tata models. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine offered in the previous model is also available. As a third option, customers can also opt for the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with CNG option.
The biggest complaint about the Tata Punch has always been low power. Now, Tata Motors has tried to address this shortcoming. The Punch facelift gets the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine as the Tata Nexon. This engine generates 120 HP and 170 Nm of torque. The company claims that the Punch can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 11.1 seconds. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Automatic with CNG
The new Punch also gets a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 88bhp and 115Nm of torque. A petrol-plus-CNG variant will also be available, generating 73 bhp and 103 Nm of torque. Both petrol and CNG engine options will be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Notably, the CNG variant will also now have an AMT gearbox option, which was not available earlier. This is expected to make driving in the city even easier.
Tata Motors uses the same dual-cylinder technology as the Tiago and Tigor CNG automatics. This allows two separate cylinders to be placed in the lower part of the trunk of the car. This ensures that users do not have to compromise on boot space. The company claims that the CNG variant offers 210 liters of boot space. Overall, the Tata Punch facelift is all set to strengthen its presence in the market with more power, more options and a better driving experience.
