Tata Sierra Scores 5 Star Rating At Bharat NCAP Crash Test
Tata’s most awaited SUV, the Sierra, was launched last year, and it has also started reaching dealerships. Deliveries of the Sierra have begun, and we have even seen a video of the SUV crashing into other vehicles and falling into a pit. Like most Tata vehicles, the Sierra is also a sturdy vehicle, and the latest Bharat NCAP crash test results prove the same. The new Sierra has secured a 5-star rating in the crash test.
The video of the crash test has been shared by Bharat NCAP on their YouTube channel. In this video, the Sierra is put through multiple tests to check the sturdiness and safety of the occupants. In the first test, the Tata Sierra crashes into an offset deformable barrier at the front at a speed of 64 km/h. The SUV absorbs the impact quite well.
In this first test, we see the front bumper, bonnet, headlamp, fender, and even the driver-side front wheel get damaged. The airbags in the Sierra deploy on time and protect the occupants. The A-pillar of the Sierra remains intact. Despite the damage, the shell of the vehicle remains stable, which is a positive sign.
Coming to the next test, which is the side impact test at 50 km/h, the doors absorb the impact, and almost immediately after the crash, the curtain airbags deploy, protecting both front and rear passengers. The Sierra also undergoes the side pole impact test and scores good marks in that test as well. The roof and the B-pillar are damaged, but the occupants remain safe.
In these crash tests, the Sierra scores 31.14 points out of 32 for adult occupant safety, while for child occupant safety, the SUV scores 44.73 points out of 49. As part of the crash test, BNCAP tested the Accomplished+ and Adventure+ variants. The Tata Sierra is one of the latest examples that proves Tata takes the build quality of its vehicles seriously.
