Tatum calms injury fears: “Just a bit of tightness”
The Boston Celtics had a perfect opportunity to close out the series and reach the Eastern Conference Finals. Instead, they left the floor at the Philadelphia 76ers arena with a heavy 106-93 loss – and an additional concern: the condition of Jayson Tatum.
During the third quarter, the Boston star headed to the locker room, immediately raising alarms among fans and the coaching staff. The exit naturally drew attention, especially given Tatum’s importance in this playoff run.
Jayson Tatum reassures: “Just a bit of tightness”
After the game, Tatum explained what happened, trying to ease concerns.
You saw when I went to the locker room and then onto the bike. When I came back in the third quarter, my leg was just a little tight
Jayson Tatum
The comments at least partially calm the Celtics’ concerns. The No. 0 also clarified that not returning to the game was partly due to the situation on the court:
I assessed it, and the game was pretty much out of reach
Jayson Tatum
Tatum also made it clear he is looking forward to Game 7:
You can’t hope it ends sooner… I was out for 50 weeks and I haven’t been able to play basketball
Jayson Tatum
Now all attention shifts to Game 7 scheduled for Saturday in Boston. Even though Tatum downplayed the issue, any physical discomfort – especially in the playoffs – inevitably becomes a major storyline.
