Tatum shines again in the NBA Playoffs: “This is the basketball I love”
The Boston Celtics take Game 3 and regain the lead in the series against the Philadelphia 76ers with a crucial 108-100 win in a game that went down to the wire.
As often happens, the difference-makers were Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown who took control for Boston in the biggest moments and ultimately decided the game.
Jayson Tatum recently back from a long injury layoff, finished with 25 points and a clutch three-pointer late in the game. Afterward, he spoke about how much he had missed this kind of stage:
I missed being part of games like this, where it’s just back and forth the entire time. It was a game where we had to figure out how to respond and find a way to win. And winning like this, with plays from everyone, that’s exactly what I love
Jayson Tatum
He added:
White’s rebound, Brown’s steal, Pritchard’s shot… this is the basketball I love. Honestly, it was fun
Jayson Tatum
Alongside him, Jaylen Brown delivered a complete performance with 25 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and a huge defensive impact.
On Tatum’s growth after the injury, he said:
He’s improving step by step, getting stronger and more explosive. You can see he’s attacking the rim at a higher level compared to when he first came back
Jaylen Brown
And on the team effort:
In those moments, I have full trust in Jayson. We win and lose together. We just have to keep making the right plays when it matters most
Jaylen Brown
Three-pointers and offensive rebounds make the difference
Among the unsung heroes was Derrick White who made an impact despite struggling from beyond the arc in this series.
Head coach Joe Mazzulla highlighted his contribution:
Anyone who doubts Derrick White doesn’t truly care about winning. He has an elite competitive mindset and strong personality. Those two rebounds late were huge. He can impact winning in so many different ways
Joe Mazzulla
Once again, Boston showed its ability to execute in clutch moments. With Tatum and Brown leading the way, the Celtics secured a win built on toughness and quality.
Now the series moves to Game 4, with the 76ers needing a response – and the potential return of Joel Embiid could significantly shift the balance.
