Taylor Paul’s ex secures temporary custody of son amid case
Taylor Frankie Paul’s ex, Dakota Mortensen, has secured temporary custody of their 2-year-old son, Ever, amid the ongoing domestic assault case.
PEOPLE revealed that, under the terms of the protective order Mortensen filed on March 19, he has been granted temporary custody of Ever, who remains in Dakota’s care following the court’s decision.
A hearing date of April 7 has been set, at which point Paul will be able to present her side of the case before the court.
“No parent time is allowed until the scheduled hearing,” the order reads.
The Draper City Police Department told PEOPLE that an active domestic assault investigation involving Paul and Mortensen was confirmed on Monday, March 16.
A spokesperson said allegations had been raised by both parties and that authorities had contacted those involved on February 24, declining to provide further details due to the ongoing probe.
Meanwhile, TMZ published footage from 2023 on March 19 that appears to capture Paul in a physical confrontation with Mortensen in front of her daughter, Indy.
“This is called physical abuse,” Mortensen says in the video as he films the altercation, which escalates with chairs being thrown.
The child can be heard crying in the background, and at one point, Mortensen adds, “Your daughter just got hit in the head by a metal chair.”
