Team India add this young all rounder for the fourth and fifth test of the border Gavaskar trophy

India has unexpectedly incorporated one more name to their Test squad with the retirement of the veteran Ravichandran Ashwin after the Brisbane test in the current Border-Gavaskar Trophy where, with the fourth match against Australia pending, Mumbai’s spin-bowling department will now enjoy the talents of the all-rounder.

BCCI confirmed the call-up of Kotian on Monday, who leaves for Australia on Tuesday. The off-spinner had been playing the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Mumbai in Ahmedabad when the news broke. It was further reported that “the Men’s Selection Committee has added to India’s squad for the 4th and 5th Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy: allrounder Tanush Kotian.”

Kotian has become a top-of-the-line off-spin, all-rounder in Indian domestic cricket. His skills made it possible for him to be included in the India A team that traveled in preparation for the just-held Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Tanush Kotian is an up-and-coming off-spinning all-rounder in Indian domestic cricket, hitting the headlines. Reliable as he is, Kotian has been a key player for Mumbai in batting and bowling, making important contributions.

This off-spinner hails from Mumbai. He has played a total of 33 first-class matches and taken 101 wickets with the best bowling average of 25.70. Besides his achievements as a bowler, Kotian also has three five-wicket hauls to his credit, besides two centuries and 13 half-centuries. He was part of the India A team and played in the second first-class game against Australia A at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Kotian proved his mettle in the victory of Mumbai over the Ranji Trophy 2023-24. He was announced as the Player of the tournament for his show of great all-rounder performance with a staggering 502 runs at an average of 41.83 and 29 wickets at an average of 16.96.
