New Delhi: BCCI announced the squads of Team India on Saturday. The selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar picked the teams for the tours of Ireland and England as well as the Asian Games. The committee took many surprising decisions.

Shreyas Iyer became captain

Shreyas Iyer has been made the captain of the Indian T20 team in place of Suryakumar Yadav. Surya, who is struggling with poor form, has been completely dropped from the team. Iyer last played a T20I match in December 2023.

Suryavanshi got a place in Team India

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has got a place in Team India. 15 year old Suryavanshi has been included in the team for the T20I series to be held in Ireland and England. He created a stir with his performance in the 2026 IPL. Tilak Verma has been given the captaincy for the Asian Games. India has to play a two-match T20 series in Ireland from June 26. After this, Team India will play a series of five T20 and three ODI matches in England. Which will start from July 1st. The Asian Games will start in Japan in September.

BCCI announced the Indian teams for this series on Saturday. Apart from the tours of Ireland and England, the T20I team was also announced for the Asian Games in Japan and the tour of Sri Lanka. Earlier, a meeting of the men’s selection committee was held at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai.

Shreyas Iyer has been made the captain of India’s T20 team in place of Suryakumar Yadav. India won the T20 World Cup under the captaincy of Surya.
