Team India announced for T20 World Cup, Shubman Gill out, Ishan Kishan’s strong entry
Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the 15-member Team India for next year’s ICC T20 World Cup. This time many shocking decisions have been seen in the selection. In the selection meeting chaired by chief selector Ajit Agarkar, major changes have been made keeping in mind the team composition, form and future strategy. This squad will play a five-match series against New Zealand.
New thinking seen in team selection
In the Indian team selected for the T20 World Cup, the selectors have clearly indicated that aggression and flexibility are now the priority in the T20 format. An attempt has been made to create a balance of experience along with young players. The selection committee has selected the team on the basis of recent performance, fitness and match-winning ability.
Shubman Gill out of the team
Shubman Gill has suffered the biggest blow of this selection. Gill, who played the role of vice-captain in the limited overs series against South Africa, has not been included in the T20 World Cup team. Although Gill is considered an excellent batsman, the selectors have raised questions about his strike rate and consistency in the T20 format. It is believed that the team management has given preference to players who give fast starts.
Akshar Patel was made vice-captain
Team India’s all-rounder Akshar Patel has been made the vice-captain of the team. If we talk about all-rounders, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dubey have been included in the team. Recently, Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dubey had shown a brilliant game against South Africa. Both the players are known for hitting long shots in the middle overs. Apart from this, he has left his mark with the new and old ball also.
Ishan Kishan’s return
Wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan has returned to the team. Ishaan, who was out of the team for a long time, impressed the selectors with his performance in domestic cricket and IPL. Considering his aggressive batting and wicketkeeping skills, he has been included in the team as an alternative to Rishabh Pant. Ishaan has the ability to score runs quickly in the powerplay, which can prove important in the T20 World Cup.
Rinku Singh got a big opportunity
Rinku Singh’s selection in the middle order has also become a topic of discussion. In recent times, Rinku has proved herself as a reliable finisher in limited overs cricket. His ability to remain calm under pressure and play big shots earned him a place in the team. The selectors believe that Rinku Singh has the power to change the course of the match in the last overs.

Balance of experience and youthful enthusiasm
A good mix of young enthusiasm with experienced players is seen in Team India. The responsibility of captaincy has been handed over to an experienced player, while in both the bowling and batting departments, such players have been included who have the ability to win the match under any circumstances. The selection committee has also paid special attention to all-rounders so that the team can get additional options.
eyes on the trophy
Although the decision to exclude a player like Shubhman Gill may remain controversial, the selectors have made it clear that their aim is only to win the World Cup. The team’s performance in the coming months will reveal the truth of these decisions. Now all eyes will be on how much success this new team combination can bring to India in the T20 World Cup.
The same squad will remain against New Zealand also
New Zealand team will tour India next month i.e. in the new year. Five T20 matches will be played during this period. Which are considered very important before the T20 World Cup. The team selected for the T20 World Cup will play a series of five T20 matches against New Zealand.
