India has to win the World Cup, Day 12: Now we have to face the truth and understand.

Delhi: Now India is closer to its title and the record is in front of everyone. Team India now:

– Has registered 17 consecutive wins in ICC events.

– Has registered 12 consecutive wins in the T20 World Cup.
– 28 wins in the last 29 matches in ICC events.
– 1 defeat in last 4 ICC tournaments.

This entire record proves the complete dominance of Team India in ICC tournaments. Talking about this T20 World Cup, the one-sided score line of 4-0 will force anyone to say that Team India is on top. Yet if you analyze the truth behind India’s 4-0 win, a few things emerge that need to be kept in mind before facing the tough challenge ahead:

* Although India won all four of their group-stage matches comfortably, one-sidedly, the scoreline hides internal flaws that could prove troublesome in the Super 8s.

* Top order is a special issue of concern right now. Abhishek Sharma is struggling with form. He was out three times in the tournament without opening an account as well as looked off touch. Tilak Verma is looking out of touch even after playing too much ball in the middle overs. Suryakumar Yadav too, despite a match-winning performance against USA, looked strangely ‘off’ in his remaining three innings. Apart from Ishan Kishan, the top order has generally faltered.

* The good thing is that the lower order under the leadership of Shivam Dubey, Hardik Pandya and Rinku Singh has contributed in making a good total. However, India’s real strength is its bowling attack, which consistently suffocates opposition teams and is adept at delivering one-sided results.

It must be assumed that:

So far in the T20 World Cup, Team India has not faced any real challenge, all the teams with whom it played matches did not have the skill to take advantage of these shortcomings in batting. In the Super 8, elite teams like South Africa and West Indies will not pay so much attention, so even though Team India remains dominant on paper, these shortcomings of the top-order will have to be resolved without any delay, hence the trend being created on social media is not wrong. Indian batting did not look as reliable as it should have been. Even then, in every innings, one or two batsmen stood firm and played well, with which the work has been done so far.

The biggest worry was that Abhishek which no one had expected. Perhaps he is saving his ‘best’ for the big matches to come. Till now Team India has tolerated Abhishek’s failure but cannot lose a cheap wicket in every match. On the contrary, Shivam Dubey has raised new hopes and is proving the trust justified.

If we take the last match against Namibia only, 5 runs on 11 balls but after that 45 runs on 14 balls. This is no slugger. This is a plan. Is Shivam Dubey really underestimated? In the 2024 World Cup final, when the pressure was high, he played a special innings but never got credit. Bowled brilliantly in the Asia Cup. In a high-pressure game against Pakistan, he finished brilliantly and against Namibia when other players were struggling, he stood by and played sensible cricket. Finished the match.

A lot of credit for the change in Shivam Dubey’s cricket goes to MS Dhoni and Stephen Fleming. Especially Fleming, the way he trained him, improved his game, and created clarity about his role. And the way Dhoni described that role, it ensured that Dubey played according to his strengths. That structure changed him. Credit also goes to Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid that they supported him in international cricket for a long time. That confidence changed the direction of his career. Lastly, credit to Dubey himself as he grabbed every opportunity with both hands and delivered beyond expectations.

Fun Fact:

* While playing for South Africa in 2009, van der Merwe took a brilliant catch to dismiss Shahzeb Hasan. Now aged 41, playing for the Netherlands he has taken another brilliant catch to dismiss Tilak. He is one of the four players to play in the 2009 and 2026 T20 World Cups.

* Shivam Dubey won his first POM award in the T20 World Cup in his 12th match. Now the Indian players who have played the most number of matches in the T20 World Cup, who did not win the POM award: 33 – Dhoni, 21 – Gambhir, 15 – Pant, 14 – Shami and 13 – Bhuvi.
