Team India New Batting Coach: After the defeat in back-to-back test series against New Zealand and Australia, the players of the Indian cricket team are being heavily criticized. In both these series, the performance of many batsmen including captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli has been very disappointing. While the Indian batsmen were seen succumbing to the spin bowlers of New Zealand at home, they had no answer to the speed of the fast bowlers in Australia. At the same time, after the defeat in both these series, a review meeting of BCCI was held on January 11. In which further strengthening of the coaching staff was considered.

According to Cricbuzz, in the BCCI review meeting held in the presence of captain Rohit Sharma, head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar, it has been decided that the coaching staff will be further strengthened. A batting coach will be added to the coaching staff. Apart from head coach Gautam Gambhir, India's coaching staff currently includes Morne Morkel (bowling coach), Abhishek Nair (assistant coach), Ryan ten Doeschate (assistant coach) and T Dilip (fielding coach). At present, Nair is handling the responsibility of the batting department. But, BCCI is considering to fill the vacant post of batting coach.

According to the report of Times of India, the name of Shitanshu Kotak is in the forefront as the new batting coach of the team. Who is currently working as the head coach of India-A team. Shitanshu was the head coach of the India A team on the Australia tour in November. He can be appointed as the new head coach of the Indian team before the Champions Trophy. Sitanshu Kotak was the head coach of the Indian team that toured Ireland for the T20 series in the year 2023 under the captaincy of Jasprit Bumrah.

Shitanshu Kotak has also been the assistant coach of Gujarat Lions team in the year 2017. As head coach, Kotak led Saurashtra to the Ranji title for the first time in the year 2020. Sitanshu was appointed the head coach of India A after Rahul Dravid became the President of NCA in the year 2019. As head coach of India A, he has gone on tour to Bangladesh, South Africa and Australia.
