Team India tour of Bangladesh, schedule of ODI-T20 series continues

New Delhi: The proposed white ball series between India and Bangladesh has come into discussion again. The Bangladesh Cricket Board plans to host the Indian team in September in three ODIs and three T20 Internationals. But, the situation regarding this tour is not clear yet. The current political situation in Bangladesh and questions related to security have increased the scope of uncertainty over organizing this series. The final decision will depend on the approval of the Government of India and BCCI.
Bangladesh Cricket Board has recently informed that the Indian team will tour Bangladesh in September. Three ODI and three T20 international matches will be played in this tour. According to the BCB, the ODI matches will be held on September 1, 3 and 6, while the T20 International matches are planned to be held on September 9, 12 and 13. The venues of the matches have not been revealed yet.
Political situation becomes a matter of concern
Although the series has been announced, India’s participation cannot be considered certain yet. Given the current political situation in Bangladesh, security concerns are arising. The Board of Control for Cricket in India will not take any decision on this until permission is received from the Government of India. If the green signal is received from the government, Team India will leave for Bangladesh on August 28.
This series has been postponed before also
It is important that this series could not be organized on time even earlier. The Indian team was to tour Bangladesh in July, but this six-match white ball series was postponed indefinitely. Scheduling problems were then cited as the reason. Later, both the boards, with mutual consent, decided to extend the proposed series from August 2025 to September 2026.
BCB is preparing for the domestic season
BCB also revealed that Bangladesh will host Pakistan, New Zealand, India, Australia and West Indies in the upcoming season. The Board believes that this program will ensure international cricket throughout the season. This will not only give Bangladeshi players a chance to play against big names, but the domestic audience will also get an opportunity to watch exciting matches on their own ground.
Discussions increased on Mustafizur Rahman
Meanwhile, Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman is also in the headlines. Kolkata Knight Riders bought him for Rs 9.20 crore in the mini auction of IPL 2026. After the auction, some political and social organizations have raised objections to his participation in the IPL. These statements have further increased the discussions regarding India-Bangladesh cricket relations.
Currently, all eyes are on the decision of BCCI and Government of India. If approved, cricket fans may once again get a chance to watch an exciting encounter between India and Bangladesh in September.
