Team India will go to Dhaka amid Mustafizur Rahman controversy and Bangladesh tension, there will be a series of ODI and T20 matches.
New Delhi:Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Friday that it will host the Indian cricket team in the month of September this year. Under the proposed tour, a series of three ODI and three T20 international matches is to be played between India and Bangladesh. However, many questions have also arisen with this announcement, because the current political and social conditions of Bangladesh are under discussion and now it is not clear whether the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will give final approval to this tour or not.

BCB said that ODI matches will be played on 1, 3 and 6 September, while T20 matches have been scheduled for 9, 12 and 13 September. According to the schedule, the Indian team will reach Bangladesh on August 28. This tour is considered to be an important bilateral series between the two teams in the limited overs format, which was being postponed for a long time.
This tour has been postponed before also
It is noteworthy that India’s tour of Bangladesh has already been a victim of uncertainty. The six-match white-ball series, scheduled for July 2024, was postponed indefinitely. At that time, BCCI had issued a statement saying that this decision has been taken with the mutual consent of both the boards, so that the international cricket calendar and the commitments of the players can be balanced.
BCCI had then said that this series of three ODIs and three T20 matches will be organized at a suitable time between August 2025 and September 2026. The board had also clarified that the revised schedule will be announced at the appropriate time.
Current situation increases concern
This time, concerns regarding the tour have increased because there is a situation of political instability in Bangladesh. There is no permanent government in the country and the news of social tension in recent times has made the atmosphere sensitive. Apart from this, the incidents unfolding regarding the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh have also attracted international attention.
In this context, some political and religious organizations in India have also reacted. Especially the controversy regarding Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan and IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders has been in the news, in which the name of Bangladeshi player Mustafizur Rahman also came up. These incidents have further intensified the debate regarding India-Bangladesh cricket relations.
Eye fixed on BCCI’s approval
Although BCB has announced the dates of the series in September, the final decision has to be taken by BCCI only. Looking at the current situation, the question is arising whether the Indian Board will give the green signal to the Bangladesh tour keeping in mind the safety of the players and other aspects.
Important link in cricket relations
Cricket relations between India and Bangladesh have been strong for a long time. Bilateral series between the two countries always gets full support from the audience. In such a situation, if this tour happens as per the schedule, then it will not only be a great news for cricket lovers, but will also strengthen the relations between the two boards.
