2010 T20 World Cup : West Indies hosted the T20 World Cup in 2010. However, the star-studded team was eliminated after losing in the Super-8 itself. England won the title by defeating Australia.

2012 T20 World Cup: Sri Lanka was given the hosting rights of T20 World Cup in 2012. The team adorned with stars like Sangakkara and Jayawardene reached the finals, but lost at the hands of West Indies. Before India in 2026, Sri Lanka is the only team which has been able to reach the finals while being the host.

2014 T20 World Cup: Bangladesh got the hosting rights of T20 World Cup in 2014. However, the team was eliminated after losing in the Super-10 itself. Sri Lanka and India reached the finals and the Sri Lankan team defeated India and captured the title.

2016 T20 World Cup: India got the hosting rights of 2016 T20 World Cup. The team was eliminated after losing to West Indies in the semi-finals. Later the West Indies team became the champion. He defeated England in the final.

2024 T20 World Cup: West Indies and America got the hosting rights of 2024 T20 World Cup. However, both the teams were eliminated after losing in the Super-8 round itself. India won the title by defeating South Africa in the final.

2026 T20 World Cup: This time India and Sri Lanka are the hosts. However, the Sri Lankan team was eliminated in the Super-8 round. At the same time, India has become the second team after Sri Lanka to reach the final as host. India has a chance to break this spell. If the team becomes champion then it will create history.
