Team India's crushing defeat after 12 years and 18 series, New Zealand won the series

India lost the second test against New Zealand by 113 runs. With this, Team New Zealand has taken a 2-0 lead in the series. India's defeat is also historic because after 2012, Team India won 18 consecutive series at home, but New Zealand has created history by losing this series.

Washington Sundar took a total of 11 wickets for India in this match, but could not ensure the team's victory. New Zealand defeated India for the first time in a Test series on home soil.

In this match, New Zealand won the toss and chose to bat first. But the Kiwis were all out for 259 runs, but when India came to bat, it also seemed like a big score. Team India's first innings was all out for just 156 runs. New Zealand got a big lead of 103 runs in the first innings, due to which Team India also came on the backfoot. In the first innings, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli could score 0 and one run respectively.

How did the match slip away from India?

New Zealand took a lead of 103 runs in the first innings, India's strategy was to bowl out the Kiwis on a low score in the second innings. Because New Zealand captain Tom Latham stood in the way of India and by playing an inning of 86 runs, he kept Team India away from victory. Tom Blundell and Glenn Phillips also contributed 41 runs and 48 runs respectively, but Tom Latham's half-century proved to be the most damaging for India.

The failure of India's top batting order was also a major reason for India's defeat. Rohit Sharma failed to reach double figures in both innings of the Pune Test, while Virat Kohli scored just 18 runs in both innings. Apart from this, Rishabh Pant in the middle order scored 18 runs in the first innings and could not even open the account in the second innings. Sarfaraz Khan, who scored a Test century in Bengaluru, could not show any magic this time. Overall, batting failure has been the main reason for Team India's series defeat.

38 wickets were in the name of spinners

In the second test match between India and New Zealand, the pitch in Pune was made of black soil. It was already expected that the spin bowlers would get full support from the pitch, but who would have thought that India would get trapped in its own trap. Tim Southee was the only fast bowler to take a wicket in the first innings of the match. In this match, the spinners took a total of 38 wickets and one batsman was run out. In the match, Washington Sundar took a total of 11 wickets, Ravichandran Ashwin took 5 wickets, Mitchell Santner took 13 wickets, Glenn Phillips took 3 wickets and Ajaz Patel took 2 wickets.
