Purple, Unique Design Language in Tecno Camon 50 Ultra 5G

The Tecno Camon 50 Ultra 5G brings a fresh design in the segment the company describes as “swan-inspired elegance,” pairing a fluid, curved chassis with a display that curves at the edges. Tecno says the phone is designed to feel light and comfortable despite packing a large battery and multiple camera modules. Tecno has introduced a dedicated one-tap AI-Key, giving users instant access to Tecno’s Indigenous AI, Ella, and other AI toolkits, making it very convenient to use them.

The Tecno Camon 50 Ultra 5G carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K certifications, meaning it can withstand dust, full submersion for 30 minutes, and even high-pressure, high-temperature water jets and steam cleaning. TECNO says the device has passed MIL-STD-810 military-grade toughness testing, including 22,000 micro-drop tests and thousands of extrusion and anti-twisting tests.

The device will be available in five colorways: Moonshadow Black, Nebula Titanium, Cypress Green, Misty Purple, and Luminous Orange, though Indian availability is expected to focus on Orange, Green, Purple, and Black variants.

Camera Breakdown

True to the Tecno Camon series’ camera-first positioning, the 50 Ultra’s standout feature is its imaging hardware.

It uses a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C main sensor with a large 1/1.56-inch sensor size, an f/1.8 aperture, and optical image stabilization, paired with a 50MP 3x telephoto lens (70mm focal length, f/2.4) and an ultra-wide camera with a 112-degree field of view. Around front sits a 50MP autofocus selfie camera. The telephoto setup enables AI 60x SuperZoom, while a feature named “Super-Zoom FlashSnap” is aimed at capturing sharp images at any zoom level.

Tecno Camon 50 Ultra 5G has reportedly earned a DxOMark camera score of 146, the highest recorded for any smartphone in the segment. Tecno’s Universal Tone Technology, a system that uses a proprietary database of 372 skin tones to calibrate how the camera renders different complexions, is one of the major reasons for such a high score.

Performance Report

The smartphone is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate paired with a Mali-G615 MC2 GPU, delivering a very smooth day-to-day experience and handling high-fps gaming easily. The massive 6,500mAh battery allows users to play longer and could easily provide a standby backup of 1-1.5 days.

Pricing & Variants

The Tecno Camon Ultra 5G is priced at Rs. 39,999 in India and will go on sale on Amazon starting 21st July. However, Tecno is offering a launch coupon worth Rs. 3,000, bringing the phone’s effective price to Rs. 36,999. Customers will also be able to avail of up to six-month no-cost EMI options.

Final Verdict:

In a market currently crowded with strong contenders like the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G, the Realme 15 Pro 5G, and the Nothing Phone 3a Pro, TECNO is banking on its DxOMark-validated camera performance, unusually rugged build, and a genuinely premium-feeling 1.5K AMOLED display to carve out space. Whether this combination translates into a big success in the Indian market will become clearer once sales go live.
