An 18-year-old in Malaysia has died after being electrocuted while charging a mobile phone on an express bus, authorities confirmed.

Anuar Abdul Rahman, police chief of North Seberang Perai, on Nov. 2 said the teenager was found with burn marks on his left fingers, indicating possible electric shock, The Straits Times reported.

Witnesses said the teen had boarded the bus heading to Kuala Lumpur Sentral transit hub. Around 6 p.m., passengers reportedly heard him scream and saw him foaming at the mouth, The Star reported.

Emergency services were called to the scene, but medical personnel pronounced him dead shortly after arrival. A post-mortem examination revealed no additional injuries or signs of criminal activity.

Malaysia’s Transport Minister, Anthony Loke, announced that an investigation would be conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
