Tej Pratap Yadav Offers Rs 11 Lakh To Actor Rajpal Yadav Jailed In Rs 9 Cr Cheque Bounce Case

New Delhi/Patna: Former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav has offered financial help of Rs 11 lakh to actor Rajpal Yadav, who is currently serving a six-month simple imprisonment sentence in Tihar Jail  in a Rs 9 Crore cheque bounce case.

Rajpal surrendered and was sent to Delhi’s Tihar Jail on February 5 following a Delhi High Court order.

After learning about the actor’s ordeal, Tej shared a statement on his official X account in Hindi, “I just learned about the grief and suffering of the family of Rajpal Yadav ji through a post by my elder brother Rao Inderjit Yadav ji. In this extremely difficult time, I and the entire JJD (Jan Shakti Janata Dal) family stand firmly with the bereaved family with our deepest condolences and solidarity.”

He added, “With a spirit of human compassion and support, on behalf of the JJD family, I am providing financial assistance of Rs 11,00,000 (Eleven lakh rupees) to the family.”

In 2010, the actor reportedly took a loan of Rs 5 crore to finance his directorial project ‘Ata Pata Laapata’. The film’s disappointing box-office performance resulted in heavy financial losses, which later triggered legal action over outstanding payments.

“Sir, what should I do? I don’t have any money. I don’t see any other solution,” Filmibeat, reported quoting the actor’s plea to the court.

When asked whether he had sought help from friends in the industry, he added, “Sir, yahan hum sab akele hain (sir, we are alone here). There are no friends. I have to deal with this crisis on my own.”

Meanwhile, Sonu Sood and Gurmeet Choudhary have expressed their willingness to support Rajpal. Gurmeet also urged filmmakers, producers, and others in the industry to step forward to help him. Sonu Sood, on the other hand, announced on X that he would cast Rajpal in his film and urged other filmmakers to provide signing amount for their upcoming projects to the actor.

Rajpal was last seen on the big screen in Varun Dhawan’s ‘Baby John’ and is set to appear in Akshay Kumar’s upcoming films ‘Bhoot Bangla’ and ‘Welcome To The Jungle.’
