After Andhra, two child policy will be removed from Telangana! Revanth Reddy is going to take a big decision
Hyderabad: After deciding on the quota in elections, the Telangana government is likely to take a decision on the proposal to remove the ban on people having more than two children from contesting rural local body elections. Sources associated with the ruling Congress party said that the issue can be resolved after the caste-based enumeration is completed and the quota in rural local body elections is decided.
As per the promise made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during the elections, the socio-economic, employment, political and caste-based comprehensive survey of the Telangana government started on November 6 and is now in its final stages.
Rules not applicable in urban local bodies
Earlier, Congress sources had hinted that the government may adopt the old policy, which was changed by the undivided Andhra Pradesh government in the 1990s. The two-child rule has already been abolished for urban local bodies in Telangana. Whereas Andhra Pradesh Assembly had recently passed such a bill.

Southern politicians had expressed concern
This October, many politicians in South India expressed their concern over the 'it is better to have only one child' rule. It was also said that families should be bigger otherwise the Lok Sabha seats of South Indian states may reduce due to less population.
