What happened during the hearing?

This PIL was heard by a bench led by Justice BV Nagarathna. The Supreme Court reprimanded the filmmakers and advised that no section of the society can be defamed through the name of the film or any objectionable content.

Justice Nagarathna verbally said, ‘Why are you defaming someone? This is against morality and public order. It is one thing to be vocal but it is not right to create more unrest when there is already unrest in the country. We think that filmmakers, journalists etc. are all aware of Article 19 (1) which grants freedom of expression. You tell us what will you keep as your new name after changing your name?
