On Saturday, tempo drivers demonstrated strongly by blocking NH-22 near Kako Mor in protest against the new traffic rule ‘Police Code’ in the city. During this time, long queues of vehicles formed on the road and common people had to face a lot of trouble.

Tempo drivers allege that this ‘police code’ implemented by the administration has been given to only a few drivers, while other drivers are being imposed with heavy fines of up to Rs 10,000 for driving tempo in the city.

Drivers say that they earn only Rs 400 to Rs 500 per day, so it is impossible for them to pay such a huge fine. He warned that if the rules were not changed, their livelihood would be at risk.

During the protest, a large number of tempo drivers parked their vehicles and came on the road and raised slogans against the administration. Driver Bunty Kumar demanded from the District Magistrate that either this rule should be amended or ‘Police Code’ should be made available equally to all tempo drivers.

Due to this jam which lasted for about two hours, the traffic was completely affected. Later, the traffic police reached the spot and gave advice and got the jam removed, after which the traffic became normal.
