Tennis legend Novak Djokovic hints at possible Serena Williams return
The tennis world is buzzing following comments from Novak Djokovic suggesting that 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams may be planning a sensational return to the court.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday at the Indian Wells Masters, Djokovic shared his belief that the 44-year-old icon is preparing for a comeback.
Although Williams has not played professionally since the 2022 U.S. Open, she recently re-entered the sport’s anti-doping testing pool, a mandatory requirement for any player wishing to return to competition.
Djokovic admitted he has not spoken to her directly but noted that the energy among players and fans is reaching a fever pitch.

Referring to the potential return of one of the sport’s greatest figures, Djokovic said: “Everybody is excited and it’s definitely something that’s very highly anticipated.”
The Serbian star speculated that Williams might choose Wimbledon – a tournament she has won seven times – as her comeback stage. He also suggested she could begin by playing doubles with her sister, Venus Williams.
While Serena herself has remained cryptic, telling interviewers she is “just going to see what happens,” her former coach Rick Macci has pointed to her intense training schedule as a sign of things to come.
If the rumours hold true, the “Queen of the Court” could be back in action as early as this summer.
