Tennis star Naomi Osaka splits with rapper partner Cordae ahead of Australian Open
New Delhi: Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka has split up with her American rapper boyfriend Cordae just ahead of the first Grand Slam of the season – the Australian Open. The couple decided to end their five-year-old relationship, as they started dating back in 2019 and also have a young daughter named Shai. Osaka took this big decision just ahead of a big event, where the player would be aiming to make a mark.
Osaka took to her social media handle Instagram to announce the decision and confirm the split with her rapper boyfriend. Osaka praised their relationship saying that she was able to grow a lot from their experiences together for all these years. The tennis star also said that her daughter is her biggest blessing that she has got out of this relationship. She ended the emotional post with a red hear emoji, without saying that they have parted ways.
My daughter is my biggest blessing: Osaka
“Hi everyone, just wanted to say that Cordae and I are no longer in a relationship,” the four-time Grand Slam champion wrote on Instagram. “No bad blood at all, he’s a great person and an awesome dad. Honestly really glad our paths crossed because my daughter is my biggest blessing and I was able to grow a lot from our experiences together.”
On the professional front, Osaka reached her first WTA final since 2023 at the Auckland Classic over the weekend, producing sensational tennis skills. But unfortunately for the tennis ace, she had to pull out of the match because of an abdominal injury after claiming the opening set 6-4. With the Australia Open starting on Sunday, her injury does not look that bad as the tennis player was not very badly hurt.
Osaka, who has been going through a bad patch on the tennis court since a couple of years would want to get back to winnings ways as she begins her campaign at the Grand Slam event.
