Flocks of people gathered in front of the airport’s entrance from early morning, waiting for the opening.
The Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024 lasts from Dec. 19 to 22 at the airport. It is open for free to the public during the last two days.
Several people came from as early as 5 a.m. to be the first ones to visit. Security personnel were stationed to maintain order.
Security personnel instruct people on how to look up registration information. Visitors must provide their personal IDs.
People scan QR codes to get in. People can either register for entrance directly at the gates or register beforehand.
The exhibition area of Vietnamese weaponry are choke-full of people.
Around 100,000 people registered to visit the expo on Saturday and Sunday, according to the organizing committee.
Doan Van Sinh, 80, walked into the expo after two hours of waiting with his comrades. He had served in the military for years.
Hanoi’s weather is chilly on Saturday, with most visitors wearing warm clothing at the expo.
The anti-air S-125-2TM missile is exhibited at the airport.
Visitors to the expo can witness the technologies and weapons of the militaries around the world, including Vietnam.
Nguyen Huu Hoan and a group of veterans traveled 50 km from Chuong My District to reach the expo at around 6:30 a.m.
“Our military is so good… To be able to be a part of them makes me feel proud,” Hoan said.
A Turkish gun booth attracts the attention of several young people.
Over 200 units and businesses from over 30 countries, including the U.S., China and Russia, participate in the expo.
The Vietnam International Defense Expo, organized by the Ministry of National Defense, is part of activities to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the formation of the Vietnamese People’s Army.
