Tension in Srinagar over the death of Iranian leader Khamenei, security forces used tear gas to control the protesters.

Srinagar. After the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Seyed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, massive demonstrations took place in many areas of Srinagar, creating an atmosphere of tension in the city. A huge crowd of protesters took to the streets and raised slogans.

To bring the situation under control, security forces used mild force and tear gas shells were released at some places to disperse the crowd. Officials said that the situation is being continuously monitored and efforts are on to bring the situation under control.

Security tightened, appeal to maintain peace-
Security has been tightened in sensitive areas of the city and additional security forces have been deployed. The administration has appealed to the citizens to maintain peace and not pay attention to rumors, so that any untoward incident can be prevented.
