Tension increased in Asia, Japan deployed dangerous missile, can destroy the enemy up to a distance of 1000 km

Japan Defense Strategy: Amid rising geopolitical tensions in the Asia-Pacific region, Japan appears to be making a major change in its military strategy. According to recent reports, Japan has started deploying its indigenously developed truck-mounted anti-ship missile systems in the areas around the East China Sea. It is believed that this step may create new strategic turmoil in the region and increase China’s concerns. Experts are seeing this deployment as a sign of a new stance away from Japan’s traditional defensive military posture.

What is Type-12 missile system?

This modern missile system is known as Type-12 Surface-to-Ship Missile. It is a surface-to-sea missile designed to target enemy ships at sea, and is launched from a special truck-mounted launcher.

It was developed by Japan’s well-known defense company, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. It is said that the range of its current version is about 200 kilometers. In fact, it was initially developed to protect the coastal areas of Japan. It is considered an improved version of the older Type-88 Surface-to-Ship Missile.

The missile is equipped with modern technology

State-of-the-art technology has been used in Type-12 missile. It features an inertial navigation system and GPS-based guidance, allowing it to reach its target with high precision. Apart from this, it is also equipped with an advanced radar system and terrain-matching technology. Precisely for this reason, it is considered an extremely effective weapon in naval warfare.

Work on new missile with 1000 km range

According to reports, Japan is currently developing a more advanced version of the Type-12 missile, which may have a range of approximately 1,000 kilometers. A special feature of this new model will be that it can be launched from three different platforms: land, ship and aircraft. If this plan is successful, this missile will be able to target not only naval ships but also targets on the ground. Due to this, a big change can be seen in Japan’s military capability.

Missile can reach Taiwan Strait

According to reports, these missiles are being deployed in the Kumamoto area of Kyushu island of Japan. If this new long-range missile is deployed, ships in the East China Sea could come directly within its striking range.

Furthermore, with this new strike capability, a large portion of the Taiwan Strait could also come within its reach. This means that if the Chinese Navy advances towards Taiwan, Japan will have the ability to intercept it from a distance.

Major change in post-war policy

After World War II, Japan limited its military policy mainly to self-defense. But the development of new long-range missiles could also give Japan the ability to launch pre-emptive or retaliatory strikes. For this reason, it is being considered a major strategic change in Japan’s military thinking.
