Thai influencer dies after alcohol drinking challenge

A Thai social media influencer died after drinking a 350 ml bottle of whisky when he was hired to do so.
Thanakarn Kanthee, also known as Bank Leicester, 21, died at the hospital on Thursday, the Bangkok Post reported.
Thanakarn is a garland seller who had filmed several videos where he drank alcohol as part of paid challenges. One such video, which went viral, showed him drinking straight from a whisky bottle in a party. After the ordeal, Thanakarn vomited and was taken to a hospital, where he died.
The police said Thanakarn might have died due to cardiac arrest, but is waiting for autopsy results before making a confirmation, The Nation reported. Thanakarn was reportedly paid ฿30,000 ($880) to do the challenge.
Following Thanakarn’s death, people began to condemn the online challenges and called for users to stop posting similar content.
