Thailand’s Cabinet on March 10 approved a resolution requiring government organizations and state enterprises to work from home and suspend overseas trips as part of measures to cope with global energy crisis stemming from escalating tensions in the Middle East.

Announcing the results of the Cabinet meeting the same day, Deputy Government Spokeswoman Lalida Periswiwatana stated that the Cabinet had adopted a directive from caretaker Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who is also the Minister of Home Affairs, regarding the conflict in the Middle East and its impact on Thailand’s fuel security.

Accordingly, government agencies and state-owned enterprises were instructed to immediately begin working from home, except for those responsible for public services.

The directive also ordered the temporary suspension of overseas study tours and training trips at all levels.
